The simple answer to this question is ‘No’. Although, there is more to this. Rice is a carbohydrate and a very good one at that. It is also very easy to digest. Although, one thing you need to regulate is the quantity. Eating moderately is the key. I know many people who eat roti and rice together. My advice here is to eat either one. This isn’t a necessity but a tip you can follow to cut carbs.
Secondly, take note of what are you eating along with your rice. I emphasize on balanced meals alot. Just eating rice and dal can definitely mean that you are eating a lot carbs. Ensure you are adding enough of protein to your diet (like paneer, chicken etc) Add fiber to your diet. Salads and vegetables are your go-to here. These tips will help you avoid weight gain. Generally rice doesn’t cause weight gain! So eat it in moderation and you are set.
