Here’s What You Should Eat Before and After Workouts

Hello FitFam,

I hope you’re all doing well.

If you’re a fitness enthusiast, workouts are a crucial part of your day. However, what you eat before and after your workout plays a vital role in helping you stay fit. You need to consume a mix of healthy foods that provide you with instant energy pre-workout and helps repair your tissues post-workout.

Foods to eat before your workout:

  • Bananas
  • Nuts
  • Granola Bars
  • Whole Grain Toast
  • Dry Fruits
  • Apples
  • Peanut Butter
  • Oatmeal

Keep the calorie count of the meal between 300-500 calories of healthy carbohydrates. It is best to eat these food items 1-2 hours before your workout. Try not to eat any meal right before you begin your workout.

Foods to eat after your workout:

  • Yogurt
  • Almonds
  • Wheat Toast
  • Egg White
  • Chicken
  • Brown Rice
  • Salmon
  • Protein Bar
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Hummus

Your post-workout meal should include a mix of proteins and healthy carbohydrates and should be within 400 calories. You should consume your post-workout meal 20-60 minutes after the workout so your body can utilize the nutrients for recovery.
